Senior Web Developer

The Jaeb Center for Health Research Inc. is seeking an individual with strong web development and technical skills to join our team in a leadership position.

Jaeb Center is a Tampa based company that coordinates medical studies and epidemiological research primarily in the areas of type 1 diabetes and eye disorders. Among our current major projects are a type 1 diabetes registry and biobank recruiting 25,000 patients, a network of 1,300+ physicians conducting studies on diabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema, and a network with 800+ physicians researching eye disorders in children. These studies are conducted at over 500 clinical locations across the country using proprietary web-based applications developed by our programming team. Multiple studies are in development at the same time and each have unique requirements and timelines.

The successful candidate for this position will be experienced in designing, developing, testing, and documenting software applications. The Senior Web Developer also collaborates with in-house business and technical teams and mentors junior developers.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in application design and architecture
  • Interact with business and development teams to understand application requirements
  • Develop, document, and communicate application designs to business and developer teams
  • Lead the development and execution of technology strategy from architecture to completion
  • Participate in multiple projects, solve complex problems, and provide mentoring and leadership for the development team
  • Collaborate with project manager to prioritize high level tasks and help other team members with prioritization
  • Recommend and implement best coding practices while ensuring development deadlines are met

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years developing data-driven web applications
  • Experience architecting web solutions using a multi-tiered model
  • Understand the principles of Object Oriented Design
  • Strong SQL skills and relational database experience (Microsoft SQL Server a plus)
  • Experience with current web technologies including IIS, .NET, PHP, Apache, JavaScript, CSS, Ajax, jQuery
  • Understand caching techniques
  • Experience with software performance testing
  • Experience with version control software
  • Integration experience with legacy systems preferred
  • Practical knowledge of software development lifecycle and programming methodology
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate within development team

Programmer

Jaeb Center, a Tampa medical research company, is seeking a programmer to join our development team. This position will collaborate with other team members to design, develop, deploy, and maintain internal and customer-facing web based, desktop, and mobile device applications.

This is a full-time, permanent position with the Jaeb Center.

Requirements:

  • Programming experience or recent coursework
  • Be familiar with relational databases; SQL Server is a plus
  • Ability to collaborate and contribute in a team environment

The Jaeb Center for Health Research is a coordinating center for clinical studies and epidemiologic research, primarily in vision and diabetes-related disorders. Data Manager Assistant

The Data Manager Assistant position works with study data managers on tasks that contribute to the conduct of clinical studies. The applicant is expected to have at least entry level knowledge of databases, preferably Microsoft SQL Server, and experience with Microsoft Access. The Data Manager Assistant role is intended to be a training path for eventual growth into a data manager position.

Tasks typically performed by the Data Manager Assistant are:

  • Assist Data Managers
    • Create data tables with required fields and extended properties
    • Assign field names, data types, and attributes to data collection forms
    • Write queries to retrieve information from study databases
  • Create/maintain administrative programs and reports in MS Access
  • Assist with Database Documentation

Requirements:

  • Good understanding of databases
  • Experience with Microsoft Access is preferred
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail and accurate execution of tasks
  • Able to follow directions and adhere to procedures
  • Ability to recognize patterns and inconsistencies and take appropriate action
  • Effective collaboration with other staff to address task requirements/questions
  • Can work relatively independently after task is fully outlined

Computer Support Technician

This position provides technical support for PC-based visual acuity testing systems built by the Jaeb Center for Health Research for physicians to use in eye studies. Duties include monitoring hardware inventory, computer maintenance, order processing and user support. This is an entry level postion with growth opportunity for the right person.

Responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to

  • Create, maintain, and deploy Windows and Linux disk images
  • Assemble and ship PC-based visual acuity system orders
  • Provide support for visual acuity system customers via phone and email
  • Maintain inventory for visual acuity system products
  • Research technical computer and software problems

Desired experience and skills include:

  • Experience with user support
